Join Don Franklin Chevrolet, Buick, GMC in Somerset, Kentucky on Friday, July 22 for a day honoring America’s Heroes! The dealership will be offering food concessions, music, door prizes, goody bags, raffle drawings, a speaker, cruise-in car show with celebrity choice awards, the Corvette Store with merchandise and more. New for 2016 is the FIRST Corvette Cruise along Kentucky’s Highway 192 “Rattlesnake”! The afternoon of Corvette fun concludes with the Somernites Cruise Block Park from 6-10pm (July’s cruise is themed “Corvette Summer”).
Proceeds from the event will fund the Veterans and Wounded Warrior Recognition Luncheon at the National Corvette Museum in November as part of Military Appreciation Month and the annual Vets ‘n Vettes event.
“This is the second year of our Heroes Cruise, and last year’s event welcomed 188 Corvettes, raising over $1,500 for the Wounded Warrior Project,” said Joe Cummins, General Manager at Don Franklin. “We’re excited to partner with the Corvette Museum this year to offer additional activities and raise money for their recognition luncheon for veterans.”
The Heroes Cruise is $20 per car for registration. The first 300 cars receive a complimentary goody bag with a 4 oz. detail spray from Adam’s Polishes, microfiber towel from the Bowling Green Area Lodging Association, Corvette Central Keychain and other items. The registration also includes entry in the car show and cruise-in, entry in the door prize drawings, and participation in the Rattlesnake Run. Event t-shirts are available for $10 each, and raffle tickets can be purchased for $5.
Online registration is available at 2016heroescruise.eventbrite.com and on-site registration will also be available at the dealership.
“We were thrilled when Don Franklin Chevrolet, Buick, GMC of Somerset, Kentucky approached us about sponsoring the veteran’s recognition lunch during our Vets ‘n Vettes event,” said Katie Frassinelli, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Museum. “The Thursday of that event is dedicated each year to our veterans, including wounded warriors from Fort Knox and Fort Campbell. We offer them complimentary Museum and GM Corvette Plant Tours, a meal, and some laps at the NCM Motorsports Park. Last year we had nearly 500 guests to participate.”
This year’s Vets ‘n Vettes event is slated for November 3-5, with the recognition lunch and activities taking place on the 3rd.
